Nutrisystem Weight Loss Review
Both my husband and I did Nutrisystem for 2 months. I found that after just the first bite or two the food does taste better and adding seasoning helps too. They feel Nutrisystem has been a great way to jumpstart their weight loss journey. Each food is assigned points based on its serving size, calories, fiber, and fat; and no foods are forbidden. Week of September We have been on Nutrisystem for 2 weeks and I'm already down 17 lbs!!!!! Thanks in advance for any thoughts or ideas you may have for me.
What's New with Nutrisystem for 2018?
A person's body is their responsibility and if they gain weight, its up to them to actively work of getting back in shape. No one else can do that for you! Let's clear up a couple of things and make them perfectly clear: Second, the "meals" are microscopic. Go to any nutrition or calorie count site and plug in Nutrisystem Meals. When the calories in a meal are in the — range, you're not going to have to chew very long to devour the whole thing. Cut your calories to per day.
If you can read and if you can add, then it' simple to do and it's a helleva lot cheaper than Nutrisystem or any other diet program.
I actually like the food. Before NS, I would just have a coffee, ladled with creamer for breakfast, eat a nice oversized lunch and probably not eat dinner, but sometimes snack on chips, pretzels, cereal, whatever, while watching TV.
This is teaching me to eat small portions throughout the day. I have always worked really hard to try to be thin, but, have gained 10 lbs over the past few months that will NOT come off. So, I'm using this as a kick-starter to making smarter choices. I look at our metabolism as a fire burning. If you put one big log on a fire that is almost burned out, it will choke it out; however, if you put kindling, or a few small twigs on it, it will build it back up.
Think of your metabolism in the same way. If you eat smaller meals, more frequently, you are feeding your metabolism, but those big meals that restaurants serve and we, in turn, create, at home , those meals will completely stifle your metabolism and leave you feeing tired and lethargic.

As long as you keep eating small portions, keep your daily calorie count to the same as while you're on the diet and do not return to old bad eating habits like eating junk food or foods high in sugar, drinking soda etc you should not gain weight. This diet is not just made to make you lose weight, it's designed to teach your body to get used to eating less and to teach your brain to be aware of what you're eating all the time — even when you're not dieting.
Bottom line is it's all on you from start to finish whether or not you lose weight and keep it off. Only you can choose what you eat and drink. EVERY physician gave me the same comment—loose weight. I have been on many programs before with little success. Was up late one night and saw Marie O who looked super—so this fat boomer decided to give the program a try. Have been on program for about 2 months or so. Down from to today. I love the food—of course have some faves, but it works for me and hopefully will continue to on my road to loose another 50 pounds.

I'm sorry it is not available internationally but I believe the additional shipping costs would make it very expensive and therefore not attractive to dieters in other countries around the world.
If I may offer some advice: I know that it can take some will power to follow a stricter eating regime, but when you firmly decide for yourself that you will do it because you want to do it, you can surprise yourself at what you are capable of! I agree that adding spices and herbs to the meals can improve the taste and tailor it to what you like to taste even!
And yes, yes, yes My husband and I both started this diet, he needs to lose 40 pounds I need to lose ! Our first week he lost 12 pounds and I lost When hungry eat salad is what I tell my husband. He gets more snacks than I do but this to me is a very easy diet to follow. We planted a garden and makes it more fun to grow your own salads! I think the trick is once you lose your weight to keep it off. But I hope we get to that problem! I talked my husband into doing the diet with me and to tell you the truth, I think it helps him to understand the struggle of sitting next to someone eating foods that you can't have when only one person is on a diet.
No matter what you do in life Hey Liz, Great to hear you're getting on with the diet so well, but gaining 7lbs in just over a week sure sounds strange. My first thought is water retention, which if that's the case could be caused by a sudden change in diet and usually dissipates after several days.
It can be caused by increased fiber from the food holding fluid in the digestive tract which is released soon enough as the body gets used to the additional fiber in the diet. Although it sounds odd, the best way to deal with water retention is to drink MORE water—at least eight or more 8oz glasses per day throughout the day ie not all at once. It helps flush the system and helps with digestion too. If you don't start seeing a drop in weight after another week, my advice is to get in contact with a Nutrisystem counselor and talk it through with them.
They have experts in-house that can help you, so DO make use if that service. You're paying for it as part of the program, after all! Good luck with your progress and I hope things go real well for you.
I can say I love it.. I'm on the Diabetic Plan. In the 4 days I've been on the plan I've gained 7 pounds. Please let me know whyyyyyyyyy I gained? You're doing the right thing in talking to the counselor over any concerns—they're there to help after all!
I'd add that you need to drink lots of water every day. Not just for this program, but for your health in any case, because it hydrates you and actually helps with healthy digestion and elimination as well as helping to normalize blood pressure.

I am on my first week of NS This is my 3rd day. I felt really tired yesterday and chatted to the counselor today who added a couple things for me. I have not cheated at all but my blood pressure is going up some now which has me worried. I saw where the program is under mg Sodium per day which should be ok.
I will be talking to them more if this continues to be a problem. This program is helpful to me I am a comfort eater and eat with my computer or TV so I don't even think about how much I eat.
This program thinks for me I am on the woman's basic vegetarian plan and have liked everything so far. I was sent some meat products accidentally in my first shipment but they corrected that quickly and I am being sent other products now. The cost is high Way less expensive than medication, procedures, etc, if your health goes downhill! Thank you for this review and all of the comments that have followed.
I am 85 pounds overweight and grieving the murder of my daughter has led me to 30 pounds of weight gain over the last 7 months. I am hopeful that NS will be the answer that I have been looking for to increase my energy, self control and self confidence. Just started my 6th week of NS, 25 lbs. Now I plan to keep going for 2 more months until our anniversary Cancun vacation. NS has a program that allows me to pick and choose my favorites so I want to enjoy the food I like at smaller portions and learn to snack well.
Hopefully, I'll take better habits with me when I start buying replacement meals and home cooking with a newer portion-controlled mindset. Nutrisystem works for me.
At times, I'm fully aware of my increased energy and motivation. Losing the desire to junk snack at night is a huge improvement. It is worth the money to spend a few months eating NS to lose weight and change my eating habits. The good news is that I still go out times per week to our favorite bars and restaurants. Love a dirty martini, small appetizer, and seafood or salad combo much more than I did the fatty meals that were NOT worth the money!
Hey Gail, don't feel discouraged—since Feb 15 its only just over 3 weeks and at the recommended rate of weight loss at 2lbs per week, you're actually right on track! I know it's easy to get caught up in the big claims by some of the TV ad featured dieters of 30lbs or more, but the reality is those big numbers take several months to achieve in most cases. You could and should double that figure inside of two months if you stick with it and stay determined to succeed!
I started the NS plan on February I haven't added veggies. I don't feel super deprived likely because of my few side trips but I can't help but feel that I should have lost more weight. I should probably add that I am 48 and post menopausal — I do work out most days for min either a treadmill or Beach Body videos and I have three labradors who I walk most days they're not strollers! Just feeling a little discouraged but I intend to finish out my second month.
Hey RockyRose, it's great to hear you're enjoying the diet and having great success with it. In my experience, the people who always lost the most weight and kept it off are those that stuck stubbornly to their diet plan while politely but firmly ignoring any conflicting "advice" from friends or family.
Everyone naturally has an opinion and often its the wrong ones that derail people from their weight goals if they listen to and take them to heart. It's always the plan that get results when you stick with it, not those opinions! I've been on Nutrisystem for about two weeks, I'm down ten pounds. I love the program and I love that I'm sticking to it. I think the food is really good, there are a few items that I don't like so I just don't order them. I hope I have good results with this program.
I think the most important thing is making sure I stick to it. You should contact NS customer support for these kind of questions as they'll have the most accurate and correct answers rather than take someone else's opinion whether right or wrong. Can you drink coffee on Nutrisystem?

Just wanted to give an update! As for the meals, I think they taste great, all except 1 wasn't to my liking! I finished half of it and gave the rest to my unpicky dog! You do have to add in vegetables but that is fine I feel fuller!

However i have a few complaints. The food is mostly bland and has no real flavor. While portioned well, i still felt like i was lacking something I work out about times a week including playing hockey and it left me hungry. However the biggest and most annoying thing that really got on my nerves was after paying for the first month, i came to the determination that it was too expensive to continue. I'm sorry but that's completely absured!
Yes i got a discounted price Which is the reason i would be charged but that's no excuse. Thanks but no thanks. I'm very upset that they would treat their customers like this Additionally to cancel, i've been on hold And on the phone as i'm typing this waiting to talk to someone for nearly 30 minutes already Are they purposely trying to make it impossible for you to cancel?
Going back to Weight Watchers so i can eat food that tastes like food, and a system that I have had success with in the past. Hey guys, I get it you have differences of opinion and I'm a believer in everyone gets to say their piece. But unless you really have a genuine grievance with Nutrisystem itself, I don't want to read angry or hateful comments or arguments especially over what you see or don't see on TV. If you see so much of Marie's face on the network, man you're watching too much TV! As for me, I'm glad Marie's still doing it for Nutrisystem. God bless her, because it really helped me lose the 20 pounds I needed to lose through my previously bad diet not sitting on my lazy fat butt all day watching TV. I lost weight and reached a goal.
Man, unlike that other guy I'm happy, positive and thankful I found something that worked for me! I have been very pleased with the food personalized my plan selections and the only negative was that I was very gassy and some pretty painful stomach pains for a couple days during my second week. I did experience constipation for the first week and very well could have made a mistake by eating more meals with higher fiber content to combat this which may have created the stomach pain.
I did take GasX which has solved the problem. My advice would be to stay strong, adhere to the plan and drink 8 to 10 16oz bottles of water per day. The results thus far have been amazing and I am well on my way to achieving my goals by the summer.

They only said I'd lose up to 10 the first month Hey Toni, I get where you're coming from and I say sure, go ahead and eat vegetables. They are super low in calories but high in nutrients that help the weight loss process. That's as long as they are fresh eaten raw is even better and not out of a can or a packet!
As to the hard boiled egg, I'm guessing if you ask Nutrisystem support you CAN and should , they'd say it's outside the plan. But personally, I'm a great believer in natural foods are always better than junk. So if you're going to slip, it's better to do it with an egg instead of a pack of potato chips or a candy bar! I'm just beginning the Nutrisystem and I love it already. I'm currently on the 4th day of my Turbo 10 but I'm finding it a bit difficult.
I had one major question that I couldn't find the answer to anywhere; I think I know what the answer is but I want to confirm it. While doing the Turbo 10 can I have vegetables and protein when I'm getting hungry? I have been trying to stick whole-heartedly to the Turbo 10 but I have slipped up and had a hard boiled egg considered "powerfuel" and a half a cup of edamame vegetable.

I looked back at your comments and gotta say, your killing it girl woo yeah! Baggy clothes are the coolest by-product of this diet! When I hear folks say they lost this or that pounds, I think to myself, that's cool.
That's what we're doing this for. For US not for the bathroom scales! I love to hear people winning with their diet. I finished 3 months on Nutrisystem just before Christmas after I shrunk from a size 18 to a size 10!
All that fat was gone baby and my old clothes all looked like they were made for an elephant. I was so happy I threw a party for my friends to burn my old clothes in the yard and it was so amazing. It cost me all my meager savings to buy new clothes for this new small size body but I'm the happiest girl on my block for sure! Oh yeah, one month later I'm still the same size and weight. I eat only fresh food that tastes great and drink plain water or herbal tea now. No more junk or soda and I feel and look totally amazing!
I am on day Lost 5 lbs first several days and have not lost anything since. Major plateau and very discouraging. I am going to stick with it another month. New delivery should be today. I have stuck to the plan. Not understanding how I'm not dropping weight. My breakfast used to be calories. Now I don't go over for the entire day for 1 month? Why am I not losing?

I had weight loss surgery 3 years ago where my heaviest I weighed lbs and my lowest lbs. So after the surgery, 3 years later I have gained back a total of 30 lbs.
I am addicted to McDonalds Cokes, I buy at least a day! Needless to say I am tired of being sluggish, overweight, jittery and grumpy!
I knew I needed to first stop the soda period! So I did that and on the same day went to Walmart and purchased 2 of the Homestyle packs so I can try it for 10 days. I just started on NS. I thought that I would have total withdrawals from having quit Soda cold turkey on day 1 but I have only had an occasional headache. I have had gas also but that is ok. I am not hungry at all thanks to eating the 6 small meals and also that my stomach doesn't hold that much anyways.
I do want to say that the food is actually very good at least all the ones I have had so far have been! I haven't weighed myself yet because I want to be surprised and weigh at the end of the week. This is really easy to follow. I haven't exercised at all but I plan on incorporating it into my schedule. Here is to a New Me in ! I am please with the plan so far. I lost 8lbs My first week, but I think a lot was fluid from eating so much bad food before. The first days was the hardest but I like the fact that I don't have to cook it and weigh it and count calories and figure all that out.
I do not want to have to do a meal plan, I do not have time for that. I can make my family a nice dinner and still have the veggies with them and I heat mine up and we can sit all down together without me having to figure out what can I make for them that I can eat.
I did the QVC deal and got the plan for less than what it would cost me to do smart ones or lean cuisine. This is delivered to my door and for an entire month.
I don't even have to shop for it. You can not beat that. The food is not the greatest but what microwave meal is. It is not the worst I have had and I am so excited over this, I feel amazing and look forward to be a long time customer. I have now lost 8. I love green beans.. I still have 13lbs I am wanting to lose Are you allowed Coffee on Nutrisystem? I use to drink decafe coffee. I did use truvia and skim milk when I used to drink it..

A possible answer is that much of that could have been excess water weight, because believe it or not when you start to drink lots of water the body actually releases excess stored water.
It all depends on how much water weight you were carrying to begin with as it can vary a lot between people. But in any case, don't feel discouraged. It's early days into diet and your body is just balancing itself out. The pounds will continue to fall more steadily as you continue with the plan.
Remember, most expert agree you should expect pounds lost per week on a low calorie diet like Nutrisystem and this is a reasonable average. The food is much better than I expected from hearing some of the very negative commenters said about it.
I felt a bit hungry the first few days, but I told myself it was my body telling me it was using up excess fat to make me smaller and lighter. And it really was! After those first few days, I had no hunger issues at all and felt great. Better than great — I have so much energy now that I never had before.
I really appreciate the depth of information you provide here and I noticed you changed the ads and some of the info from Fast 5 to Turbo 10 since I last looked in. That looks real interesting but you know I will stick with my plan because it works for me and that's all I need. Good luck and best wishes to all the others who are on this diet program!
Hey Rebecca, it's always great to hear from folks that are doing this with a positive attitude and real determination to succeed like you guys. All I can say is you're going the right way and just stick with the plan and you'll be wearing even smaller size pants before you know it!
I am one week shy of a month on the program. My fiance and I are doing it together as we have gained weight together over the past two years. We are both in the lbs range. She loves it and finds it easy to stick with. I have a harder time feeling full, but I am learning to work through that. It is nice to have the food all right there and quick.
I can cook, and cook well, however we don't always have the time to cook well. If I got home tired we'd go out. If we hadn't been grocery shopping, we'd go out or grab a quick bag of chips.
So having everything quick and easy is a great thing for both of us and makes it easier to behave. The food it hit or miss, but it is generally not THAT bad.
There have only been one or two items like the doughnut that were horrible. Most of the food is pretty good and some of it I absolutely love. I can tell you that my size 26 pants are loose and my size 24's are starting to fit better.
My fiance's pants are fitting her better as well. So far, we love it. We buy canned veggies on sale to add to the dinners. The cost is high, but compared to our previous eating out, we are still saving money. We will definitely continue, probably for 6 months to a year. We have a lot of weight to lose. I hear many saying that this program is not teaching you how to eat right, but it IS. Portion control is one of my biggest problems.
My body is learning the full triggers and eating 6 times a day helps my body process things. Gaining weight off program will happen if I do not keep the portions down and frequent. You cannot go back to eating three large meals a day. Love the hunger feeling But I have only lost 2. I will give it a couple more days. If I don't lose any more. I will return all their food and want my money back. I hope they don't give me a hard time for that. My goal was to lose 15 lbs.
This is my 4th time. It has come a long way from the 80s when you used to have to go to a weekly meeting and talk with a counselor and listen to speeches and pick your food out from racks in a warehouse like setting. Each time I've done it, I lost successfully except the last year but that was my fault. I only did a 5 day plan and then went whole-hog on the weekends.
I'm back on it and now sticking to it on most weekends, not all. It'll just take me more time to lose, but that's fine with me. I'd rather live and enjoy myself when I go out and not worry about dieting cause I know I'll get back to it when I can.
The food now is fantastic compared to what it used to be, especially the frozen. I don't find much of anything I don't like. And if I do, I just don't order it again. If you are a picky eater to start with, well then, yah, you'll have a hard time with it.
So far all I lost was 5 pounds, but its so amazing how different I feel. I don't care what I look like. I care about how I feel! Bending over trying to put shoes on isn't a chore anymore with a fat belly in the way. Just want to say — this was the easiest, fastest way I ever tried to lose weight! As you diet, you begin to relearn how to eat, so I did not even need the transition info. I still buy the shake because they are great mid-morning to squash hunger until lunch. And the payoff is amazing! I have received so many compliments and queries about the program, and I can't say enough good about it!! I'm 58 years old and 5'2". I have never been one to lose weight very fast and as such, I usually get discouraged and get the ol "I don't care" attitude.
Especially after losing quite a bit of weight and then struggling up and down with the same poundage for the past several years. But Jamie said that many of her clients that have a harder time keeping away from extra calories, need her both for positive reinforcement and for oversight. Especially considering how little you get and its quality. I'm going to put on my maturity cap for a moment while I discuss the sometimes embarrassing gas and diarrhea the diet gave me. Jamie said that often when people first get on the diet, their body has an abnormal reaction to the new regimen.
But the gas and diarrhea persisted off and on throughout. I'm convinced it was my body's reaction to their strange foods rather than the fewer calories. Other dieters on NutriSystem's forums complain of the same symptoms. While it wasn't harsh enough to completely scare me off the diet, it was unpleasant to be sure.
NutriSystem may want to consider the calories found in Pepto-Bismol for future consumers. This is both a pro and a con. While the food was edible, almost none of it was excellent. I wouldn't encourage anyone not on a diet or not committed to losing weight to try any dish. The foods also lacked any sort of freshness. If you enjoy the finer flavors of fresh fish and other lean meats or home-cooked nutrition, this is not the diet for you.
While NutriSystem's meals are healthy and well-balanced, they are all pre-packaged and have mammoth ingredient lists that contain countless unpronounceables. While many of those strange ingredients are no doubt used to keep the unfrozen foods from spoiling, they don't appear to be doing much in the freshness department. I should also note that this diet is not very ecologically friendly. Because everything comes in wrappers and handy plastic and cardboard containers, my trash output for the last month easily tripled.
As many readers have complained, NutriSystem often swaps meals in their orders. Because people are surely going to hate some of NutriSystem's foods, this can be very annoying. But Jamie said that if anything is swapped and you don't like NutriSystem's replacement, to call your counselor and NutriSystem will send it to you free of charge, and even let you keep the food you didn't order.
She said she had one customer who had all 54 of her monthly desserts swapped because she wanted just one every day of the diet and the warehouse happened to be out of it. Jamie said NutriSystem sent her a box of 54 of the desserts she had originally requested. Overall, the diet definitely works. I surpassed my weight loss goal and I feel good. After that, you gradually add "good carbs," such as fruits and whole grains. You can customize menus, search a database of more than 1, recipes and get a personalized shopping list.
There's online support from staff dieticians and members plus daily motivational emails. Studies have shown that after one year, carb-restricted diets led to greater weight loss and increased heart health than low-fat diets. However, the advantage disappeared over the long term. How much can you expect to lose? Figure on 8 to 13 pounds during the two- week kick-start phase, then 1 to 2 pounds a week thereafter.
